• My business website is down. It has nothing to do with the server apparently. I have not changed a thing on my website. all i did was update wp as suggested. so who’s fault is it? not mine. not my hosts, not the theme developer, it’s wp’s fault i think. no one on the forum has offered any help. so where are YOU wp? i’m stuck and it’s costing me money. I have done everything in the trouble shooting lit that i can and it has not fixed it. do you stand behind your product? i’m at a loss here. would someone from wp please respond.

    no one on the forum has offered any help. so where are YOU wp?

    If your site is so critical that being down for an hour is costing you money, you should have a WP professional on retainer or at least an arrangement with someone you can call.

    You need to understand that support is is done by volunteers and WP users. Me? I was watching TV — doing a bit of binge watching Frankie and Grace. So…

    First, you need to provide some information

    1. A link to your site. It would help to see if there are any errors.

    2. If you saw any errors, what were they?

    // note

    I found your earlier post by searching on your user name. It probably got ignored because those doing support here focus on messages with no replies. Your several replies to your own message, though useful, bumped the message count and probably led folks to assume that someone had answered you.

    My site is critical, though you may be correct that 1 hour won’t break me. it is a small business and my website in this day and age is my only real means of gaining new customers. the nature of my business is not repeat but new customers. I would not be using a purchased theme for self development if i could afford to have a professional doing my site. so i’m sure you can understand my frustration when through no fault of my own my site goes down and i find that i must rely on the time and generosity of others to help when i’m sure they have better things to do. having said that, i don’t know anything about web development so when i got no response i panicked a wee bit. the link is heathlansdownedesign.ca and the only msg i get is ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS. I have not changed a single thing on my site, i just upgraded wp and upgraded my plugins. I have turned off all plugins and reset the caches on my browser and i still get the same error. I can go directly to any other page on my site by entering the url, just not the home page. my thought is that it might be a corrupted theme on the server though it has worked flawlessly for over a year.

    Google cache indicates that you were using WordPress version 4.4.2 on May 4. The readme file on your site indicates you’ve since upgraded to 4.5.2.

    It also indicates that you are/were using a the Timeline Minimal Responsive WordPress Theme.

    If you follow that link you will see:

    Last Update 	23 January 14
    Software Version WordPress 3.8, WordPress 3.4

    Don’t rule out that your theme may no longer function with the latest version of WordPress. Granted, you could have other issues, but you say you haven’t changed anything else.

    Use your FTP client to temporarily rename the “timeline” theme directory to “timeline.old”, then revisit your site at yoursite.com/wp-admin and see if the symptom changes at all.
