• Hello, Upgrade with Fantastico just now (after deactivating the plugins) and now see error on page. https://www.deploymentlessons.org
Looks like it is related to VoteItUp plugin I use.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function displayvotes() in /home/deplmet9/public_html/wp-content/themes/Rosey/index.php on line 14

Also after the upgrade it stated to do the following if something goes wrong.

If you don’t have SSH access, ask support to help you:
    – delete all the files listed in /home/deplmet9/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
    – delete /home/deplmet9/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
    – Untar /home/deplmet9/fantastico_backups/.backup.1207754186.tgz
    – Empty the database deplmet9_wrdp1
    – Import the file /home/deplmet9/fantastico_backups//backup.sql into the database deplmet9_wrdp1
    – Move /home/deplmet9/fantastico_backups/ to /home/deplmet9/public_html

But the Fantastico backups file had no records. Confused there.
    What does Untar mean?
I can fix this with some help….I hope.

    Thanks, Deploy

  • Untar is like unzip, you may need winrar or another program to untar it if your current zip program won’t allow you to extract it. There should be a backup file called .backup.1207754186.tgz. Files beginning with a . are hidden files so if you don’t see it you will need to turn on hidden files. Then you empty your database and import the backup database into it. If you do not have a .backup… etc. file, then did you make a backup of the database personally before you upgraded? Upgrades and things like that aren’t always perfect so it is best to back things up before you undertake tasks like that for future information.

Yes, I followed the instructions in the codex for a back up a few days ago. Thank you so much for the help. I found hidden files and now see the back up file. I will attempt the rest…… Deploy

Just re-activate the plugin and it should be fine.

As for automatic things… it’s worth reading this:

    Hi Moshu,
I read in another post about not using Fantastico for upgrades. But when I asked why, no one answered. Now I know that Fan really breaks up WP.
I looked at how to do the upgrade myself but it looked complicated. Course, the kids could have been screaming at the time, which makes everything seem impossible.
Now, I know. I will put Heckle and Jeckle to bed and attempt the upgrade myself. I have learned so much about WP these last 6 months. I know I can do it….with help from the forum. ??
Now I wait in hopes that a tech at my host can fix it all. Thanks for the support as always.

One more thing, how to do access the dashboard if the Meta is gone? I’ve always wondered and now that the site is gone, I really can’t access it.
I guess you can’t until the files are fixed. Is that correct?
