I’ve had so many other issues with Wordfence going on, I didn’t notice that I’ve got 5 month to 2 month old listings in my block IP list under “IPs who were recently throttled for accessing the site too frequently.” They shouldn’t be any older than 2 days, according to my settings under “Options.”

Is there a setting I’m missing that’ll clear this list? Disconcerting.

    Help appreciated.

  • Hello mountainguy2,
which setting are you referring to in “Options”? I’m pretty sure that’s just a log that shows the latest ones who were throttled?

Hi, under “Options” there is “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule” I made the probably mistaken assumption that this might control something to do with clearing those old listing off my block list.

    To be clear:
Under “Blocked IPs/IPS Who Were Throttled…) I have a list of IPs that is clearly very old, two to three months, for example one stating “..ending 5 months 26 days ago”

What controls this stuff staying on this list, seemingly forever? Seems like a sloppy lose end — the list could end up thousands long.

    Thanks for any info. MTN

    Hello again,
Wordfence logging tables “circulate” so when they are full it removes the old and adds the new. So there is no risk of this log getting too large.

Ok, what defines “full” ? Thanks, MTN

Under normal circumstances the max amount of rows in wfThrottleLog is 1000. If a site is under DoS-attack that table can be truncated (emptied completely) to prevent performance issues.

Ok, thanks! Perhaps add that information to your documentation! Also, feature request, “Set Max Number of Entries in Throttle Log.” as well as “Clear Throttle Log”

+1 for “Set Max Number of Entries in Throttle Log” and “Clear Throttle Log”.

I find the page loads very slowly, and having the ability to clear it would help. My log currently shows entries from as far back as 10 months ago…

I just used PHPmyadmin, truncated this WF table, wp_wfThrottleLog, cleaned it up quite nicely. Still, how much time does a person have in their life to be manually truncating SQL tables? Let’s hope our feature request is implemented soon in Wordfence! MTN

    Hello,
I have added this as a feature request. Our internal case number is FB1795.

Yes I agree with with the feature request which is well over due.
    Thanks for expediting this WF

Keep up the good work of making WF most efficient powerfull security plugin
