My webpages have https URLs in search engine results when I don't have SSL
-
Good day everyone,
My webpages come up with Https URLs in search engine results, when I don’t even have an SSL certificate. What annoys me most is that some of these pages rank first on google for my keywords, yet when clicked, the Https webpage gives an error that
” Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from https://www.neighbourhoodreview.com (for example passwords, messages or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID. Automatically report details of possible security incidents to google. “
This is killing my business and brand. It makes it look as though my site is some fraudulent website on the internet.
I have checked my sitemap on google webmaster tools, and there is no single https link on it. I have also specifically resubmitted the links of all the pages that show up with https urls to google using webmaster tools. Yet the problem still persists.
I contacted my hosting company (Ipage) and they told me there is nothing they can do. I’m just confused and angry. I really need help on this, and I don’t understand why google will index pages as https when i have never purchased an SSL certificate (and don’t need it since I don’t do transactions on the site).
When I search google with the exact post title, I see the same page come up twice as https and http versions. I don’t have duplicate content of these pages on my domain or sitemap, and do not have an SSL certificate.
You can try searching for ” 7 realities about living on Lagos mainland ” using google, then open the results with https from “neighbourhoodreview.com” to understand what i mean.
Another thing is these results wit https urls don’t have that drop down through which you can check the day the page was cached.
Any positive response is highly welcome
