WordPress Customizer stopped functioning

  • Hi.

    I’m working on a new site and it is at temp.theyshallnotbeforgotten.org. It will replace theyshallnotbeforgotten.org once I get it completely updated.

    During the process of creating it, somehow the customizer was broken. It now only shows a clickable (non-functioning) “Safve & Publish” button. “Your are customizing…” head. Then “Widgets >” underneath. A preview will not show up and I cannot change to a different part of the customizer.

    The URL showing is “https://temp.theyshallnotbeforgotten.org/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D1319%26action%3Dedit%26message%3D1”.

    Troubleshooting steps:
    1) Changed theme, no change.
    2) Uploaded fresh copy of theme, no change.
    3) Used WordPress reinstall function, no change.
    4) Manually replaced ROOT/WP-ADMIN/WP-INCLUDES folders, no change.
    5) Disabled all plugins, no change.
    6) Renamed plugin folder, no change.
    7) Disabled plugins from DB, no change.
    8) Cleared cache (browser and W3)
    9) Tried on iPhone and three different computers.
    10) Increased PHP memory to 256M and WP memory

    Anyone have any other suggestions to try and resolve this?

  • I’m having what I believe is the same issue. But not with all sites. Are you using WordFence?

    Not WordFence. In my case it turned out to be Slider Revolution. I *think*. Anyway, I deactivated that and got the customizer back, but I’m also suspicious that I might have been temporarily locked out on a timer, because before the customizer broke I got a weird Warning *while I was using it. Something like : “Cheating, eh?” and then it shut down. Maybe be something new in WP.

    Arrgh. No, it’s Divi theme. I guess what’s happening with my site is not happening with yours. Sorry to spam your topic. ??
