Default role not applied to new users

Hello, I m facing with this issue :
I created a new role, cloned from “client” (one of woocommerce’s default role) in order to get the same permissions.
I then set it as the default role for any new subscriber.
But it still doesn’t apply, and the role “client” remains the default one for new users.has anyone meet this issue ?
