hiding pages from the main menu

Is it possible to hide pages while I work on them and then manually or set a timer to have them reappear when they are ready?

We are running an auction and want the day of the week to be the only thing showing. So we would need to be able to hide and unhide the pages easily as we move through the week.

I’ve tried changing the page to private and draft but the menu item remains and I just get an error message –

Oops! That page can’t be found.

It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?

I don’t want people think there is something wrong…
