Identify post type as imported posts do not show in Admin Menu

Hi Guys,

I have an exported XML file from an old site but when importing the posts do not show anywhere in the admin panel? I should think these would be under ‘posts’ but there is simply nothing there.

I chose not to download media as the site the content is from no longer exists so it wouldnt be able to import these anyway. I get the “unable to import media..” notice for all content that can’t be imported but at the bottom it says “all done”.

It maybe because these are reviews and may have used a custom post type so theoretically I wouldn’t be able to see these imported posts until that post type exists in the new admin panel. How would I go about verifying this, is the information about ‘post-type’ in the XML, if so where? I have trawled through it and cannot see anything that would indicate this,
