Integrate Review Categories with Post Categories?

    Hi. Superb work you’ve done with the review plugin, many thanks.

    I appreciate one of the main benefits of your plugin was to create a separate ‘type’ of Post, but I’m assuming there’s a query that would allow me to combine the Review categories and Post categories in the Categories Widget?

    So if I have a “Movie” review category, and a “Movie” post category, both appear in the Widget?

    Any help appreciated, and thanks for your time.

    Hello shemmie, thanks for your kind words. Now regarding your query, currently its not possible to display both review and post categories via categories widget. There is a core trac ticket pending that would have allowed this to be implemented. But, until it gets merged into core, this can’t be done at least via categories widget.

    If WordPress doesn’t yet support it, then I accept there’s little can be done. ;^)

    Out of interest, am I missing a widget that makes use of the Review Content Type’s tags and categories? If I can’t merge them with the normal Post categories, is there a way of allowing me to add something to show reviews by category?

    To clarify, I’ve made use of the change suggested here so that reviews now display on my homepage. But I would love to make better use of Review Tags and / or Categories, if at all possible?

    Hi shemmie, I am considering adding ‘Review Categories’ and ‘Review Tags’ widgets for displaying review categories and tags, just like WordPress default Categories and Tag Cloud widgets in next release. Meanwhile, you can use something like List Custom Taxonomy Widget to display review categories/tags.

    Also, if you have have anything else in mind say feature request, let me know.
