Images are loading twice, double the requests BUG?

The widget is making the requests for images ‘twice’… if my chrome or IE browser window is resized to 800px width or less. I thought it was a random occurrence but I can clearly reproduce the problem each time I refresh the page.
It seems to have something to do with the mobile size? I have not tested on an actual mobile device.
Here is the testing criteria.
– both Chrome and IE tested.
– disabled wp cache and lazy load
– tested with empty browser cache as well
– my feed is set up for 6 images + my profile image which makes 7 total. My browser requests at 801px width or greater, the requests are 44 including the 7 already stated…BUT at 800px width or less, the requests are 51. I can clearly see that the Instagram image thumbnails and file names in my Chrome inspector are doubled/cloned…that’s an extra 7 requests which show full downloading each time.
