Sidebars not working with WordPress 4.5

  • Sidebars don’t appear to be working with WordPress 4.5.

    On an installation of the website running an older WordPress version (v4.1.10), the same side bar configuration is working just fine. But with WordPress 4.5 the <aside> element containing the side bar content is not getting rendered.

    I realize that there’s a warning that the plugin has not been tested with WordPress 4.5 (had a site admin get a little overzealous), but a fix or any work-around tips would be greatly appreciated!
