Comments don’t show up anymore

  • Comments have always worked fine, but since a few days they stopped working. When you try to post a comment, it just doesn’t show up. No error message, you just return to the post without any comments. I have also checked the database table and the new comments aren’t added to it. They also don’t get caught by any spam filters. What is the problem here?

    Is it possible that someone working in your admin panel set moderation to hold all comments for moderation? I realize that you should probably be seeing them in the tables anyway, but those table can be hard to read if you have lots of comments (lucky you). Its easy to check, just thought I’d throw it out there.

    I don’t have that much comments, and most are very short, so it’s not hard to see in the tables. Also, I’m the only author and nobody besides me has access to the control panel. I have also checked the comments settings and I don’t think that’s the problem.

    Since the day, this appears. Have you changed a thing that time? Has your hoster changed a thing that time? Things do not simply happen out of nothing and the more valuable information you are able to provide the easier it will be to help you.

    I haven’t changed anything, and neither did my webhost. All files are still where they should be. I have upgraded WordPress to the latest version and uploaded my theme again. Still doesn’t work, although when I switch to another theme it works! It has to be something with the theme, but I don’t understand why it worked before and doesn’t anymore, while nothing has changed.

    Check the index.php file for the theme you are using and see if the Comments Template is still called within the loop. you should see a line like:
    <?php comments_template(); ?>
    Your theme may not have included this out of the box, and someone added it.

    Cookie_875: Well your hoster and you didn’t change a thing on your files. What about the version of the Operating System Kernel, the Webserver and its modules and the PHP setup. Things do not come out of nothing and you need to find the cause.

    Since i upgraded to WP2.5, the same thing has happened @ my WP install…
    Haven’t changed anything in the theme or in the setup.
