• Dear team,

I’ve successfully installed Polylang on the existing site with content, menus, etc, and added 2 languages straightforward. Then I clicked to set a default language, and oops, the wrong one was set as a default. And it marked all the existing content with that language!
I tried to change it several times, even reinstalled plugin, but it still shows the same. I already changed a default language, but the point is that all the existing content is still marked with the wrong one.

Please, advise how can I change/reset the default language for the existing content?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Your best option is to bulk-edit all the posts that you have in wrong language and fix their language.

    Cheers,

Same here. Added plugin, all my english content was only under the spanish language. No posts, pages etc under english. You cannot delete polylang (probably because some root files/code were created. So used tools to remove polylang files/content then deactivated it then deleted it. Also cleared my cache just in case. Reloaded polylang, no languages installed….great. Then created english. Order…0 which I assume is default. Then added Spanish as order #2. Then a notice pops up at the top of the screen that there is content without a language. Do you want to use the default? Yes. Then all my content is back under english. Done. Ready to translate each page/post/comment etc in spanish.

Whoops, I meant spanish as Order #1 (just under english). Also, I do not have language as a bulk edit activity (or I don’t know how to use it or find it). That would have been an easy option too.
