wordfence is causing the error “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” when I login to the dashboard with my admin account. If I delete the plugin the issue goes away. I can’t do anything while the plugin is installed.

    Any ideas what’s causing this?

  • Same issue. Can’t seem to access the dashboard without deactivating WF.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

Thanks for the report — do you have any additional security plugins, or plugins that change user roles or capabilities? Also, are these single-site or multisite installations?

    -Matt R

    I have the same issue.
Multisite install, no other security plugins.

    Hey Matt,

I am on a multisite installation. No other role changing plugins for me.

    Thanks,

    -Anhtuan

I created a empty multisite installation and installed Wordfence with no issues.

I’m gonna try a few scenarios and get back to you

I disabled all the plugins, and tried to install wordfence again.
    No luck. same issue.

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Frontend works, but access to the dashboard becames impossible

I have two multisite installations and they both produce the error message. I have a single installation and it updated just fine. I will say it occurred when WF was automatically updated from the previous version. I removed WF from the multisite installation, replaced with a fresh copy of WF and it produced the same error.

    Hope that helps.

It’s possible it’s a plugin or theme conflict. If you post a list of installed plugins and themes, it could help to narrow things down.

Also, are these pages accessible once logged in?

    /wp-admin/options.php
    /wp-admin/network/

    Hello

After the plugin is installed and network activated , i have no access to the links you sent:

    /wp-admin/options.php
    /wp-admin/network/

I’ll gather the themes and plugins list

Shall i post it here, or send it by email?

I disabled the Enfold theme and used Twenty Sixteen, and the issue remains

    Here’s the plugin/theme list

    FYI

I managed to recover WF 6.0.25 from a backup, and it install without any issues

I was also able to install WF 6.0.25. But as soon as the auto-update kicked in, the problem came back.

I had the same issue. I had to create a new administrator account, login as that, then change my other admin account from Administrator to Editor, then back to Administrator. After that, everything worked again.

Actually, just editing the original admin account and hitting Save is enough. You don’t have to change to Editor, then back to Administrator.

    @burlingtonpress

Saving/resaving users seemed to fix the issue for me.

    Thanks!
