The WordPress website I am moving is just a piece of a much larger website. It will be in a subfolder of their main hosting account. I have moved the website into the subfolder, loaded the database and changed the config file. However, I’m getting a message “Error establishing a database connection” when I navigate to the WordPress website I have moved.

What do I need to do to get this website I have moved to load correctly?

    Thank you –

  • You should double-check the database connection details in your wp-config.php file as one (or more) of those is not correct. Most times when I see this is something as simple as a spelling mistake, but there is still a mistake there somewhere.

As simple as forgetting to add the user to the database. Thank you!
