Filezilla won’t change permissions

  • Hi,
    I have installed Filezilla to make it a bit easier to upload and edit files, but I can’t seem to get it to change permissions.
    I’m using SME Server and ibays. I’ve set the owner to admin and group to www (from root:root) on most of the contents of ./html/ since I had been logging into root to install and edit files previously and thought that might be the problem (I ftp into the machine from Filezilla with the admin account, root isn’t allowed).
    Here is the dialogue from a Filezilla attempt to chmod:

  • Hi all (if anyone is there). I have the same problem. I found great new wordpress themes, tried to upload with Dreamweaver, got the message:
    Unable to create remote folder blog/….., Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.

    I downloaded FileZilla, tried to upload the theme and got the message:
    Response: 550 /blog/wp-content/themes/colorful/images/underline.gif: No such file or directory (but it does exist)
    Error: Critical error

    I then tried to change permission of folders and files with FileZilla and got the response:
    550 themes: Operation not permitted.

    Although I know very little about all of this, I have created (somehow) a few websites and I urgently need to get my blog going. Is there anyone in the digital universe who can help me, please.
