    Hello,
for some reason your text has disappeared. Here what you wrote:

    Hello,
I’ve read your other threads about custom roles, but for the life of me I cannot get this working. I have a custom role titled “Friends” I would like a line of text to appear ONLY to this roll. I’d assume it would be
    [private role=”friends-only”]
This does not seem to work. I saw you mentioned using this with the plugin Members, but I had no luck with this either. What exactly do I need to do within the Members plugin to have these working together? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

In “Private Content” plugin you can add a capability to a custom role. For example, if you have “Friends” role, you can make Friends read the notes dedicated to other roles. In other words, friends can read notes that have been written for Authors, for example. They will share the same notes.

In order to achieve this, use a plugin such as User Role Editor. In the settings page of this plugin (Users > User Role Editor), choose the role you want add a capability to. Then, scroll down to the “Custom capabilities” section and activate one of the plugin roles

    • read_ubn_editor_notes
    • read_ubn_author_notes
    • read_ubn_contributor_notes
    • read_ubn_subscriber_notes

    Save.

In the post, use the shortcode assigning the line of private text to one of the roles above, i.e. the role you are sharing with “Friends”. So, for example, if you chose to share notes between Friends and Authors, choose author:

    [private role="author"]

    or

    [private role="author-only"]

    Let me know, please.
