• I moved my wordpress site to a new server, first I backed up the database and the files just as they are on the server. Than once I was in my new server I uploaded the files, edited the wp-config.php file with the new database information, and got my domain pointed to the the new server. Well I was sure I did everything right but when I tried to get to the main page nothing showed up, if I added index.php to the url the homepage showed up! I thought great I am good to go. Than I realized that it was not displaying any of my posts or pages. I logged into the backend fine and saw that everything was intact and just like before. If everything is right on the backend why is it not showing up on the front end?

The url to the site I am talking about is: https://swanlakechurch.org/index.php

  • Did you try updating your permalinks on the new server.

I am not sure how that would help but yes I did. I just went into my admin and click on update permalinks… is there anything else I should do with them? This is rather frustrating as everything is perfect in the back end!

By the way if you click on a menu link it just gives a 404. So basically the back end seems to be reading the content from the database but the front end shows nothing. It appears to be showing the plugins as I think that the drop down menu is a plugin. I tried creating a new page to see if that would show up.. nothing.
