Resizing header image

I have a 2016 child theme and trying to have 3 images for the header. One of them is of recommended size (1200*780) and the other two are smaller width. When I resize the browser window the image with recommended size automatically resizes. I want the smaller images also to proportionally become smaller. But they are of the same size. Request help.
