• It’s the oddest thing. I’m writing a post on my blog, and I Save and Continue, and I get the error:

    406: Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /weblog/wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.

With a lot of trial and error, I figure out that I can’t post so long as I have a 5th “from” in the text. It’s a lot of text, this post, and , and there’s 4 “from”s in it. But so long as that 5th one it there, I get that error. I can have all the rest of the post, and even add other words and it’ll post—so long as there’s 5th “from” in it, else I get that error.

Since “from” is a mySQL operations word, I looked for anything else out of the ordinary: semi-colons, parenthesis, etc., and took them out. Doesn’t matter: still posts fine with 4 “from”s, errors

I ended up abbreviating it to “frm” and it’ll post fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Weird: happening again with a different post.
If I have more than 3 or 4 “from”s in the post, it errors out.
All I have to do is change the excess to “frm” and it posts.
    Any ideas at all?

I encountered the 406 error last night on two websites. I mistakenly thought it was an issue with a specific plugin, and searched the WordPress forums for a solution.

I contacted my web host about the issue, and they responded that their suhosin security extension for PHP was too restrictive. The host reconfigured the settings for suhosin, and my site is working again, without any issue.

My recommendation: contact your host to find out if they have made any server changes.

I’ve just had a similar problem and can’t figure out what is causing it. All I can tell is that as long as I post a picture at the TOP of the blog entry, everything works fine. When I try to post that picture elsewhere in the entry, the picture does NOT show in the entry (only on the edit screen) and I get the strange 406 error. BTW, I only have three “from”s in my post so that’s not the problem (at least not for me).

Was the site working without any issues, and then suddenly the 406 issue appeared? If yes, I recommend contacting your web host to see if they have made any updates to your server.
