How to build test site before launching a WP blog?

  • Hello.

    As a newbie, I’d welcome a little advice…

    How do I create a test site (that doesn’t ping and no-one can see) so that I can build up decent content before launching?

    I would also like to use Live Writer, but you need to have a blog to post to first.

    I don’t want to go live until I have content, am comfortable with the technology, and with how it looks.

    Any comments on the best way to achieve this?

    All advice much appreciated.
