• Hi,
    I am very new to wordpress. I really don’t have any idea what MySql is. I currently use Awardspace as my host. Reading the readme, it states I have to edit the install file. I did so without problem. In the next step, it indicates i have to upload all the files to my MySql database. I created a database and logged in with phpmyadmin. But I still have now idea how to upload.

    Any Help would be appreciated

    Thanks Alot, Roman

    P.S Can I edit my PHP files visually? If so, how?

    Installation: Famous 5-minute install

    1. Unzip the package in an empty directory.
    2. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
    3. Save the file as wp-config.php
    4. Upload everything.
    5. Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.
    6. Note the password given to you.
    7. The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on ‘Profile’ to change the password.

    I tried to open wp config php file in my browser after I uploaded everything via FTP. WHen I tried to open it, it just redirected me to my host, awardspace, front page.

    Thanks for your time,

    Roman

    that doesnt say upload to your mysql database. its talking about uploading everything to your site, via ftp. and you can view you config file in the browser, read directions;

    2. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
