• Hello,

I wasn’t able to find the answer to what what’s happening with my site, so I thought I’d seek help.

I am trying to transfer my current site from one web host to another. I’ve been able to import my current database into a shell on my new host and I thought I adjusted the config file, but for some reason I’m still not connecting.

    HELP? Please? How much?

  • Who is your host?

What is the prefix for your database tables? In other words, if you look at the database your just imported, is your post table called wp_posts or something else?

    Have you reviewed Moving WordPress?

The host I’m transfering from is dreamhost, the host I’m transfer to is cpanel. When I created the dbase on cpanel, I made sure to use the same name as on dreamhost, so when I imported the imported the sql file that I downloaded from dreamhost, the only thing I should have to update would be the wp-config. page. The first attempt sort of worked, I was able to get the word press (can not connect to dbase) error page. So I tried a few different things and messed it up completely.

    Here’s what I get now:

What version of WordPress were you running at Dreamhost?

What version of WordPress do you have installed at new host?

Need to make sure your new host has the same exact version that you used at Dreamhost.

If that is the case, then you may not have all the WordPress files (not the database) uploaded correctly.

Dreamhost and Cpanel are using version 2.1
