FIRST & LAST NAME NOT WORKING

I have firstname & lastname enable in my signup form. But when people sign up it doesn’t save the first & last name data to the backend. I check my subscriber list and the first name & last name field are empty. And when I try to use the quick tag *|FNAME|* and *|LNAME|* then it doesn’t work. Please help.
