    Hi,

I’m trying to follow the instructions to add thumbnail images in excerpts.

I’m using a child theme and I do not have a template-parts folder. Can you please tell me how to create one? I tried to look on cPanel and I could not figure out how to do this.

Once I’ve created the folder, how do I then add a new contents.php to copy from the content-with-thumbnail.php?

Alternatively, I have Jetpack Edit CSS plug-in, is there code I could paste in here instead to add thumbnail images?

    Thanks very much, Jodie

I believe this Tip is still part of the beta. You have to get beta version here:

if folder does not exist in your child theme, you have to create it and put there all files that you need. So you create whole theme folder on your desktop and the upload it.

Please refer to WP documentation in terms of uploading theme:

    Admin -> Appearance -> Themes -> Upload

Upload the zip, and that should be it!

    Hi Tomas,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have now installed the beta version and created the required folder within the child theme.

In the content-with-thumbnail.php Tip 36, I followed your instructions and I deleted Example 1 and uncommented the html line in Example 2. Your instructions also say “You will also have to uncomment couple of lines in style.css – search for “Tip36″.” I cannot find any lines in style.css to uncomment.

I have set featured images for the posts, but the thumbnail images are still not showing. Can you please advise if there is anything else I need to do?

    Many thanks, Jodie

    Sorry for the delay.

Did you rename content-with-thumbnail.php to content.php?

And when you will open style.css of the child theme, search for the Tip36 and then see next comment right below:

“You can try using these CSS rules if you place small size (thumbnail) image that is aligned to the left”
