WordPress functionality unclear

  • Good day WordPress community,

    I have a serious problem which I can’t seem to resolve myself.
    I have been trying for a while to call functions in WordPress through making pages, like so:

    However, it does not seem to work in any way. Whenever I try this function, it doesn’t work at all and I seem to miss a core functionality (in my head) of WordPress.
