Post Disappeared

  • I assigned a new category to a post I had already published some time ago, and when I saved it, the post ended up disappearing. I hit back in my browser and recovered the post, but I’d like to get the comments back. What can I do about this?

  • Are you familiar enough with SQL to be able to see if the post is still in your database?
    Also, the category you assigned it to wouldn’t happen to be a sub category? If it is, you might want to see if what bunnywabbit_ has been working on is relevant to your setup.

    Not sure if this applies to you.
    If you’re using Mozilla or Firefox or Opera, make sure you only have one tab or window open to the WordPress management interface at a time. If you have more than one open at a time, and both are writing to the database at a time, data will get corrupted.
    It happened to me back in version 1.0.1 of WP. I would guess WP hasn’t implemented anything to prevent this yet, so you have to be careful.
