Get Full Text, Prefer Excerpt

    Hello,

    I am new to wordpress and just set up a free blog with the Nucleare theme. I would like to get an automatic excerpt of the text and a Read More button on my home page, linking to the full text. I tried using the excerpt field in the post edit space, but I continue to get the full text.
