    Hey Folks!

    I don’t know for how long but I can’t change categories slugs… Actually, in categories, I only can add a name but no slug…

    See this pic :

    What happened?

  • Hi there!

    make sure you have a backup of the site before changing anything.

    Then make sure all plugins, themes and WordPress itself are up to date.

    If the problems are still there, try and see if disabling the theme corrects the problem.
    After that, disable all plugins to see if the problem is still there.

    This is usually associated with conflicts between plugins/themes.

    I’ve finally been able to disable all the stuff but… Nop. Either with or without the theme/plugins, it remains the same…!

    Hey Folks!

    I still need help on that one… Here how my category dashboards looks

    I have no idea what’s causing the fact my category slug option is missing…

    I’m having the same problem, “edit slug” is just gone for categories and tags. It’s not even there for creating a new category or tag. And it’s happening across all sites in my multi-site installation. We’re running version 4.4.2.

    Thank you for your input. It tends to confirm that’s it’s really happening With the multisite !

    But as far as I saw the multisite settings, nothing seems to cause that… But I’m almost sure it’s somewhere there!

    I tried EVERYTHING to make it work…

    After having paused every single plugin, emptying the cache, switching to another theme, emptying the cache again, looking in every single option of my plugins…

    My categories slugs are Still NOT Possible to Change! That’s a real problem…

    Hi, @bobbutterfly. The slug option will be suppressed if global_terms_enabled is set to TRUE, so that may be what’s going on here.

    If you have access to a tool like phpMyAdmin which allows you to examine your database directly, you could search it for global_terms_enabled to see if any records with that meta_key and a meta_value of 1 (as opposed to 0) do indeed exist.

    If I understand what you said and make it clear, I should go into my phpMyAdmin (which I can), look for “global_terms_enabled” and look on meta_key and meta_value if they are on 1?
    (yeah, I just said what you said but, just to be clear :P)

    I’ll check. Do you know what could have caused that?

    Otherwise, what are the “risks” to turn it back on 0 again (since I’m on multisite)?

    From the information I’ve been able to find: plugins or using its associated filter. (Also, if you’ve had the site for a while, it could have been turned on a long time ago when it was an in-dashboard option, and that setting would have been carried over even though newer versions have it turned off by default).

    I’m not seeing too many risks, since it’s just changing a 1 to a 0; that being said, I tend to live on the edge more than I probably should when it comes to this sort of stuff, so in your case, I’d suggest making a database backup before doing it (so you have a recovery option). ??

    It was indeed this little shit that was causing the issue!

    Backup done before, I’ll look how it goes over time but I’m Finally able to change these slugs!

    P.S.: for the record, it seems that it’s also a naturel behavior of going on with a Multisite from a single one. No idea why!
