Problems with htaccess file

  • Hello,

    Every few days when I try to go to my website the homepage works but when I try to navigate my website everything says page not found on a white screen. I then reset my htaccess file to the default WordPress then update the permalinks and it starts working again. The only other information in my htaccess file when the problem was occuring was things from iThemes security.

    Any reason why its causing my site not to work?

  • Hi, I used to have the exact same problem.

    What I found what that the Banned users kept updating with some invalid code that kept breaking htaccess.

    In the end, I disabled this.

    NOTE: I have installed this on 20+ websites and I only ever experienced that one one single site – repeatedly.

    Next time it happens – check error_log to see what line of the htaccess is causing the problem
