Cool plugin! Should be native to WP like a few said.

I’d like to be able to change the last modified date when I click Quick Edit, just like we can change post date from there.

Sometimes I’d like to fix a typo and don’t want the last modified post to update so after fixing typo I would revert date to last date when major changes were made. For now I have to change it within the database.

Other option could be a Keep current modified date checkbox next to Publish button, when checked modified date would not update.

  • I think this is not within the scope of this plugin.

But what you are looking for is another very good plugin, called Stealth Update, that fulfills the job perfectly.

    Note:

In the current version of Stealth Update (and the version before) there is a bug that prevents it to work in Quick Edit mode. However I posted a patch in the support forum, which makes it work perfectly again.

[As you may have seen, the author still hasn’t replied to that patch, so it may be the case that he has abandoned the project. I don’t know. But it shouldn’t be too difficult to maintain this plugin, even without the author, for the next couple of years.]

I completely agree with you: The (customizable) Modified Date is something very important, and it is neglected by WP.

Thanks ecdltf for pointing me to this plugin. I just wish it would be combined with this plugin, and it would make sense too… it’s insane the number of plugin we have to add to get everything we want.

Shows as not tested with latest version so I hope the author will apply patch soon and make sure it’s validated for 4.4.2

Indeed. But I’m using both plugins and it’s fine. Code-wise it is the same if you have two plugins, or one. In this case both plugins are very tiny anyway.

If you are not familiar with applying patches I can send you the whole plugin (with the patch applied) and you can try it. To contact me just click on my username, this will take you to my blog. Once there, go to ‘Contact’ (via link in the sidebar).

The scope of this plugin is fairly well defined and I plan on keeping it simple ??

    Thanks for the kind words!
