I′ve been searching for quite some time now for a quotes plugin. The thing is that the plug-in should enable visitors to add their quotes to the database.

Almost all qotd plugins have nice features, but I haven′t found a single one that allows visitors to add quotes. Have I′ve been searching in the wrong place? Or doesn′t it exist?

Thats not that hard to do .. fairly insecure but still doable. The question that has to be answered though is how you want them displayed. Anyone can paste a form for you that will take submissions from users, be they quotes or whatever and plop them into a flat file or your database.

I guess that the nice way to have it done would be to let people post their quotes and then have the admin approve them before they gets posted.

quotes-collection is really nice, and with the feature of collection quotes from visitors it would be pretty much perfect.

that didnt answer my question. How are you looking to display them?

Is this really a quotes script, or more of a testimonials script?

Why not just take something like any of the tag box plugins, and mess with how they are displayed — its the same concept, and would take less work.

Hmm, the difference between a testimonial and a quote isn′t really that big.

How I would like it to display.

The visitor should se a single quote. The user should be able to rate it. The user should be able to input his own quote. The user should be able to press a button and get a new quote.

I′ll have a look at the tags as well

Actually I’m working on a site which pretty much like what you wanna do. Users can post a quote, rate it, write a comment and each quote are tagged and categorized.

You can actually do this without the need of a specific plugin for quoteblog but can find a group of plugins especially for rating. So just need a rating plugin which you can find in the plugin directory.

What I literally have in mind right now is to use the title field for the quote and the post field for description (basically the background of the issue related to the quote). Then, use custom fields to add information like the person being quoted, sources, date of quote, pictures and so on.

Thats actually what I′m looking into right now as well. I was planning on using some of theese tips: https://katzwebdesign.wordpress.com/2008/02/21/how-to-display-a-random-testimonial-or-post-in-wordpress/
together with a good rating plugin.

I′m going to set up wp so that it only displays one post at a time (randomly).

Oh yeah. That’s a good idea. Random quotes. I can use that to create some sort of a quiz page who said bla, bla?
