Content disappeared after database update WP 4.4.2

  • I want to upgrade from WP 4.3.3 to WP 4.4.2

    I use a theme called Flatsome, which has a few custom fields to display certain content in Woocommerce categories.

    When updating to WP 4.4.2, I have to perform a database upgrade and WP 4.4.2 is successfully updated. However, the custom fields that are part of my theme are now empty.

    I have about 100 Woocommerce categories who’s fields are now empty. I can imagine that this could have something to do with my theme, and I should ask them for support, but I suspect that it has something to do with updating the database when updating to 4.4.2.

    Could this be the case?

    How do I update WordPress successfully without losing content?

  • I would contact theme developer. Since the custom fields are added by the theme, the problem is most likely there. I use custom fields quite a lot and have never lost them due to a wordpress upgrade.
