I just started using wordpress. I chose the default theme, and set up an About page. There are no posts. Under Reading Options I can have the Posts (non so far) displayed on the home page or the About info. I’m sure I’m missing something simple, but I would like the future posts in the center of the home page, and the word About in the side bar, linking to the full page.

    Thanks for your help.

You should be able to go to Preferences > Widgets and add an “About” widget to your sidebar containing whatever text you want.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went to the widgets, but did not find an About. However your idea caused me to read the rest of them a little closer. There was one called Pages.
When I moved it to the sidebar, it showed the Page I had labeled About.

    That solved the problem.

    Thank you,

I think the suggestion was to use a Text widget as your About, assuming that you just want to do a bio?

Text widgets are the most powerful widgets you’ll ever use.
