• Hi,

We have both a WooCommerce shop and Membership 2, and despite adding the appropriate short-code on the various sign-up pages, we are still getting Users that aren’t Membership 2 Members.

Every User should also be a Membership 2 Member. I am guessing that some of these Users are joining via the shop, hence their lack of Membership 2 status.

Can anyone advise how to solve this problem? It is frustrating having to go through the entire list of Users and Members, page by page, to add any missing User to Members. I’d even be happy with a way to flag the missing Members from the Users list, rather than doing it by hand.

Any help would be appreciated, as I’m new to WordPress.

    Thank you!

  • Hey there kunoichi.au,

    How are you doing today?

If you’re looking for all your registered users to have access to specific protected content by default you can try using Default membership.

You can create one in Membership 2 -> Create New Membership by selecting Default Membership, please see screenshot https://screencast.com/t/1IwDoSUqss2

Protection rules for this membership will be applied to all registered members without them being required to sign up for one if that makes sense.

Please let me know if this is what you were looking to do.

    Cheers,

Thanks, Bojan, I’ll give the workaround a go!

Though I was hoping to figure out why some Users were not becoming Members, and how to easily fix the list to ensure that they all become Members.

(For instance, one problem is that Users aren’t added to MailChimp with the Membership 2 MailChimp add-on, because they need to become a Membership 2 Members for that to trigger, as far as I can tell).

Let me know if you run into any issues ??

    Cheers,
    Bojan

    Hi again Bojan,

Unfortunately, we are still experiencing the same problems at the user’s end. This is a typical complaint from people who manage to sign up as a WordPress User without becoming a Membership 2 Member:

“No matter how I try the reset password link says it’s invalid but when I go to re-register it says the email has already been taken. I’ve tried several times to access the information but it just doesn’t work.”

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thank you,
    Caroline…

PS – this particular user, along with a number of others, is listed under Membership 2 as “(Visitor)”, instead of the appropriate Membership label. So it looks like the workaround doesn’t allow the appropriate access.

Isn’t there a way to set all sign-ups to have the appropriate Membership 2 subscription automatically?

    Hey Caroline,

Are those users having issues logging in with the credentials they register with or they can register/login and can’t access the protected content?

    Please let me know.

    Cheers,
    Bojan

    Hi Bojan,

They are having issues logging in with the credentials they registered with. Apparently they are getting told that their password is incorrect. But when I add them to the Membership 2 Member subscription, they can then change their password and log in. Judging from what they have intimated, anyway. (Still awaiting a user to give me a step-by-step explanation.)

    Thanks,

    Hey Caroline,

That’s pretty odd, can you please forward me the information once you get it so I can try to test this on my sandbox site so I can make sure this is not a bug in the plugin?

Please let me know once you get additional information.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    Ho Bojan,

No-one has yet provided the information, but in the meantime, I’ve removed Shop completely. Now there is just a pure Membership 2 site.

People are still managing to register as “(Visitor)” rather than getting automatically assigned to the appropriate Member subscription, so I have to add the subscription manually.

    Thanks,
    Caroline…

    Hey again Caroline,

I’ve read through your previous response and this could simply be an issue with the validation in case you have another login field somewhere on the page.

Where exactly are they trying to login? Do you maybe have additional login somewhere on the same page?

    Please let me know ??

    Cheers,
    Bojan
