Hi there, I am new to WordPress and have just set up my blog with twenty sixteen theme. Under the ‘Appearance’ section of the Dashboard the ‘Themes’ ‘Menus’ and ‘Widgets’ are all working but when I click on ‘customise’ ‘header’ or ‘background’ I just get linked to blank page and can’t make changes. Is there something wrong here or does all customisation need to be done via CSS?

  • You can’t customize??

If you want to edit header, you can go to settings – general also.

    Settings is working ok.

In ‘Appearance’ when I click on ‘Customise’ ‘Header’ or ‘Background’ it just links to blank page in both Firefox and Safari. On Chrome I get a 500 Server error.

Does anyone know anything about this please?

I’ve even re-installed wordpress from scratch and still have the same problem.

I managed to fix this by uninstalling and re-installing WordPress. Apparently it was a database issue. I needed to first rename the wp-config-sample file as wp-config. In this file I needed to change the table prefix from wp_ to wp_1
