Like button

I want my posts to display the WordPress like button (just the blue rectangle with “like” and a star). Google search results gave me several articles that said this button comes standard on all WordPress posts (not mine), and when I tried to follow the instructions for making sure it was active, it’s nowhere to be found on sharing settings. Do I need a plugin?
