Custom Page Templates

I’m not sure I fully understand Page Templates.

I need to add a video player to a Custom Page Template but I can’t seem to get the video’s and images to point to the right direction.

The video player and all of it’s components are in my theme directory but when you add a custom page template, it creates it’s own directory in the URL.

Example: https://www.mysite.com/mycustomtemplate/index.php

If all of my video files need to point to their default locations.

I have even gone as far as adding a directory called “mycustomtemplate” to install the default video files but, when I view the page I get it’s folder hierarchy view.

It this an htaccess issue?

Or do I need to hardcode all of the video xml, swf,and custompagetemplate to point the directory wordpress creates?
