I’m using Seamless Donations 4.0.14 (with the palm tree icon) and WordPress 4.4.1. Our donation page is here: https://hsjc-wis.com/donate/
This is currently the only page we have set up to take donations through PayPal, so theoretically, any PayPal donation we get goes through that form.

In the past five days we’ve gotten eight donations through PayPal, however, Seamless Donations has only recorded six of them. I’ve taken a look at the PayPal records of the ones that went through vs. the ones that didn’t and I can’t see anything that sets them apart. I can’t reproduce the error myself, either. I tried to look at the log, but it only shows today’s date, it doesn’t appear to go back any further. I’m kind of stumped at where to go next to try and figure out what caused this and how to keep it from happening again.

The log doesn’t flush by date, but only keeps 200 lines of data. Might be useful to make that an option in the future.

In any case, I’m not sure what could have caused that, either. There is a transaction log database that’s created for each originating transaction, but there really aren’t good tools for digging through that to do diagnostics.

Is there any evidence of duplicate transactions or anything else that might indicate any difference between the two that didn’t register?

I’ve been having the exact same problem as 00Samm for the past month. I’m also seeing nothing in the PayPal log to indicate why some gifts are recorded by Seamless and some aren’t.

I just found some distinction between the gifts that show up in Seamless and the ones that don’t.

In the PayPal log, there’s a category called Counterparty Status, and in the gifts that don’t show up in Seamless, the status is “Unregistered”. When the status is “Verified”, the gifts show up in Seamless, unless they are recurring gifts.

Does this indicate any cause of the issue at all?

I did a Google search on “Counterparty Status paypal” and it looks like PayPal won’t send a payment confirmation to your site unless the payment status is verified. If they can’t verify it, they’re not sending a confirmation.

That’s probably something out of my hands, since the plugin can only respond once PayPal sends a response back.

    Thanks David!
