  • I am certainly open to suggestions of enhancements. I see that MailPoet supports adding a custom shortcode hook.

How would you think it should work? Select a specific event id to insert into the newsletter?

    Hi Bev,
I’m not a developer, so I’m not sure how it all works, I can only describe what I would love to see in an add-on.

    1. possibility to choose one or more events to add to a newsletter that I send every know and then, and for which I make a selection of posts or pages, and/or add some specific text

    2. possibility to automatically add events for newsletters that are created automatically every day/week, by categories of choice and by date (for example the next 4 weeks), with a maximum number of choice (fo example the next 5 events).

MailPoet offers some possibility to choose from, that would be great in an add-on for Spiffy Calendar:
    * only title / title + summary / title + complete post (as Spiffy Calendar has no summary, I suppose this would always be the complete description of the event)
    * images yes/no (and img width)
    * read-more (I suppose that this should be the link to the event itself, not the calendarlist)

I haven no idea if this is feasible, perhaps I’m asking too much. Thanks anyway for looking into this.

    Hi Bev,
I was wondering if you already had a chance to look into this? I’d still very much like to be able to integrate Spiffy Calendar into Mailpoet.
Thanks for your attention on this!

It’s on my to-do list for the next release.

Ah, thank you. I’ll be patient. ??

I have just released version 3.0.6 which supports the spiffy-upcoming-list shortcode and all it’s options.

    Hope this helps,

    Bev

Thanks a lot for diving into this! I might need some additional help though.

I’ve been testing the shortcode, and it’s not yet working all right.
    1. in Outlook 2013, the newsletter does not show up right: both the date and the title are way to small to be visible (only at 500% of screensize makes it visible). I made a screenshot, please see https://www.dropbox.com/s/7sqb5khlryzv7tu/spiffy.png?dl=0

    2. on my iPad, the text is visible allright, but the title is mentioned twice.

    3. when opening the newsletter in my browser, here too the text is visible and the titles are double. Also, all text seems to be clickable, but when I try to open the link, I get 404-errors.
    Please see https://waternatuurlijkdodelta.nl/?wysija-page=1&controller=email&action=view&email_id=251&wysijap=subscriptions&user_id=1

Is there anything I can do to resolve this? I’ve been searching on the Mailpoet-site if there is anything I should be doing, but I’m not a developper, so I don’t know how to use filter hooks etc. like on https://support.mailpoet.com/knowledgebase/hook-to-add-your-own-shortcode/

Thanks for looking into this problem!

    Hi Marion,

I didn’t receive the usual notification of your message and just found it now!

Please change your shortcode to include style=”Expanded” in the newsletter. This will fix points 2 and 3.

When I view the newsletter in Outlook the titles look good to me. Can you forward me a copy of your newsletter to [email protected]?

    Thanks

    Bev

Thanks for looking in to this. I just sent you an e-mail.

Version 3.0.7 contains a change to the styling of MailPoet upcoming event lists. Please try the new version to see if it works better with your mail handler.
