• Hello,

I’m trying to add pictures next to posts, but running into problems.

I’m getting the ‘Failed to write file to disk’ error ??

I have ‘wp-content’ folder set to CHMOD 777.

I’ve gone to ‘Options’ -> ‘Misc’ and made my uploads folder ‘uploads’ and 777’d that, but no success.

I did a phpinfo(); function and my ‘file_uploads’ function is On.

    What else can it be?

    Thanks for the assistance.

  • You can always put your error message in the Search box here. Chances are you are not the first with that error…

Yes, I’ve looked, but unfortunately it didn’t provide any answers.
Has anyone else had this problem?
My WP site is stored like https://www.mysite.com/subdomain/wordpress/ , would this be a problem?
I’ve just emailed my host, so perhaps they can shed some light.

That’s a subfolder, not a subdomain… but NO, that should NOT be a problem. And briefly looking at the search results, it seems to be a server issue.

    Hehehe oh ok, subfolder ??
Yeh, I’m hoping for a server issue ??

    Thanks again for the help.

I’m having the same problem except mine is installed at the root. You wouldn’t happen to be using yahoo?

What worked for me was to edit the PHP.INI file and set this parameter
    upload_tmp_dir=”/tmp”

and i restarted apache! Worked like a charm!

That might sound a “smart” solution but 99% of the users are on a shared hosting server with no access to any settings and they also think that “apache” is an Indian tribe ??

    having the same problem here
on a host that is shared so i cant edit the php.ini file, and you cant use ini_set fr upload_tmp_dir

how can i set an upload tmp dir then!

    any suggestions?

are there any other work arounds fr this ‘failed to write to disk’ error?
