How to add to blog articles excerpt

  • Hi I would like to ask how to turn on the excerpt for post? What i have done: I tried to turn to excerpt on by going to Edit Post >> on the upper right corner of the screen click Screen Options >> on the drop down tick the Excerpts box >> scroll down to the page until you see the Excerpt field.

    Still the excerpt doesnt appeared. Why? Thanks.

    Im using WordPress 4.4.1 with theme OptimizePress.

  • That is one way to turn on/off the excerpt, and many other options. You can also do this in code in your theme, typically in the functions.php file.

    I would suggest switching to the default theme (temporarily) and see if your excerpt box shows up then. If so, there is coding in the theme that is removing it.

    Hi thanks for answer when I turned /off the theme and the excerpt box shows up. What can I do to show the box in my theme? Thanks.
