    Hi,

I am currently testing the registration process on my MS German subsite with WP-Members installed. It seems more complicated than I thought…

After I registered as a test user, I was told that registration was a success, and I could now login (Deine Registrierung war erfolgreich! Du kannst dich nun einloggen.) So, I wanted to use the login form I was presented with after redirect. It sure looked like the login form, even if the URL was still for the registration page. But instead of being logged in and redirected to my forums, as set in WP-Members options, I was redirected back to the registration page, with the (now registered) username put in the appropriate field.

To be sure the login generally works, I tried via the login page, and it worked smoothly.

Then I found out: My settings are to moderate new registrations. And I had not yet moderated these users. But still, they were presented with the confirmation message that they were now able to login – and of course, that had to fail.

So, it seems, this is actually again about the strange notification mixup from the other thread.

    Best
    Manuel

The dialogs that can be customized in the plugin’s options are to be simply considered as defaults for the default configuration. When you change from the default configuration, some of your dialog messages may need to be changed to be logical. For example, if you enable moderated registration, the user must be approved before he can log in, so you would want to change the message in the “Registration Completed” in the dialogs tab to reflect that.

Oh, now I understand. I suggest to alter the field description then, from “Registration completed” to “Registration completed OR Registration completed, please await approval before login” or so. That would have made it clear to me what to put into the field. Of course, having two fields would still make it more convenient, but maybe this isn’t possible.

It’s not that it’s not possible – it certainly could be done. It’s based more on the fact that it would affect a large number of users who already have the plugin set up and configured. This plugin has over 60,000 active installs, so existing user impact is considered very carefully on every change that I do.

I believe making your plugin ready for the next 1 million users should be more important ?? Also, you could pre-fill both fields with what was stored for the current one during the update process or so. Then they will only have to change something when they change their moderation settings, and then they will find that there suddenly are two fields and appreciate the convenience.
