Control Form Dimensions in Widgets

  • Does anyone know where the inline css is stored for the Widget control forms. I am completely stumped by this. Basically I have adapted an existing widget for my needs and now the box where the settings are entered for the widget is far too big for the settings. The dimensions are set with inline CSS and I can’t find where they are stored. Nothing major and entirely cosmetic but would be good to know for when I release it. Hope you can help?

  • Check the source of the page and find out some keywords which you think are hard coded. Then search for it/them in all your local WordPress files using https://www.windowsgrep.com/

    Thanks for your reply but I have searched through the whole source of the site and the dimensions are not stated there.

    How are the dimensions stored. Could it be stored in the database the first time the plugin is activated in the dashboard?

    I looked at this last week, after your initial post. As far as I can tell its set by the jquery js thats inside the corresponding file found inside wp-admin/

    Ill be honest and say that I dont reme what file it was .. widgets.php perhaps?

    I am assuming you mean the boxes that pop up after you click a widget in the admin area, right?

    yah, take a look at widgets.php

    The clue for me was looking at the source. (That always works, btw)

    Im pretty sure that ‘controldims’ was seen in the source and that appears repeatedly inside widgets.php
