Black bar at top of Youtube video with ARVE plugin

    I’ve tried a couple of solutions to make Youtube embedded videos responsive with no success until now. The theme I current use itself is responsive.

    I came across the “Advanced Responsive Video Embed” plugin. Embedded videos are indeed responsive, but there is a black bar at the top. The video is correctly displayed on Youtube. I noticed a mention in the ARVE FAQ about this, and removed the alignment specification, and max width, still no luck.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    Update:

    Just noticed on the plugin page a message about a beta version. Installed it, since mention was made about the Youtube issue. It failed to install with the following message.

    Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/advanced-responsive-video-embedder/admin/class-arve-admin.php on line 724

    Rolled back to the current release.

    After spending quite a bit of time on this, and no clear solution, I finally removed ARVE and installed The “Responsive Video” plugin. It worked exactly as expected.
