Hi, we have been using the pipe symbol as the title separator. The setting in both our SEO plugin and this wonderful WPSSO plugin has always been like that. However, recently we discovered that the pipe has become a double pipe. So instead of, for example, Defending Against Cancer | Tea Guardian becomes Defending Against Cancer | | Tea Guardian when shared, as in this page: https://www.teaguardian.com/tea-health/defending-against-cancers/

I have no idea when this began to happen, perhaps only a few days ago. The SEO package haven’t had an update for some time. The only two other updates related to this are WordPress 4.4 to 4.4.1 and the previous update of WPSSO. Any clue?

Have a look at the SSO -> General -> Descriptions -> Title Separator value and make sure it’s correct.

Sounds like you may have a filter hooked into wp_title adding an extra pipe character. That’s a bit odd. You could try changing the SSO title separator and see if the pipe character is still there… If you have the Pro version, you could also try unchecking the “Use Filtered (SEO) Title” option (to use the title value before any filters have a chance to modify it).

Have you found where that double-pipe is coming from?

Should I consider this fixed and set the thread to resolved?

The double pipe is gone, so is the single pipe, and the site name that should have been there. Changed the settings back and forth and cleared cache. Same error.

Your reply isn’t very clear… Could you explain which option you changed and the result of that change?

    Thanks,

There’s been no update in 4 days, so I’ll assume the issue has been resolved.
