When I try to bulk update more than 30 thumbnails for a gallery, I get the ‘Host might be throttling error. If I refresh the page, I get:

    Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.
    Cookie
    /n

Sometimes there error shows up after only a few thumbnails updates, but usually after 20-30.

This appears to be a cookie being too long, as soon as i clear the cookies, it works again.

I have updated my php.ini settings to increase
    memory_limit, output_buffering, max_execution_time, max_file_uploads, and upload_max_filesize but nothing worked.

I just installed nextgen a couple weeks ago, and it is up to date. WordPress, php, mysql are all up to date.

Any ideas on how to prevent this issue? I have thousands of thumbnails to update and it’s taking forever!

@b.wayne89 – Have you confirmed with your web host that your increased settings are actually being used?

I would also suggest working with your web host to see if they are “throttling” (although some may not want to disclose that detail).

    Thanks!

@photocrati I did contact them and ask if they are throttling, but they just recommended I up the setting values that I mentioned. I did create a phpinfo.php file and this file does reflect the new values are updated, as does the nextgen dashboard. If these values are increased but the error persists, does this mean it must be them throttling my bandwidth?

    Thanks for the response.

@b.wayne89 – The “message” indicates something appears to be causing an effect that is, or at the least resembles, the web host throttling the bandwidth you have access to.

If you are confident you have maxed out the limits you have available to your environment and you are still seeing this message you may need to have the issue escalated at your web host to insure there is no throttling in effect as well.

Same problem here. I contacted my host and they looked for that. They said it seems to be a script error, because everything is fine and no limits were exceeded.
I can’t resize the thumbnails because it stops after about 30 pics and after that the website is in the backend is not avaiable till I delete the cookie.
That started after the update to the newest ngg 2.1.23
Thanks for any idea to go on with my work.

Same issue lots of cookies, here is one:

    Name: X-Frame-Events_453fa37a0991160c3ff3fcb1f1116385
    Value: %7B%22event%22%3A%22thumbnail_modified%22%2C%22image%22%3A%7B%22pid%22%3A4390%2C%22id_field%22%3A%22pid%22%2C%22thumb_url%22%3A%22%5C%2Fnggallery%5C%2Ftimestamp–1453306931%22%7D%2C%22context%22%3Afalse%7D

They are generated on resize. And if I clear a few it works again.

I have found that the only way to avoid this issue is to login via an incognito window …. update a few thumbnail images … close the browser (drops the cookies) and then repeat.

I have 90 galleries with ~30+ photos each. Is their a way via phpMyAdmin or via another setting that I’m not seeing which allows me to regenerate all thumbnails across all galleries in bulk so that I don’t have to go through this laborious process?

All – IF this is related to the recent cookie issue we are reviewing a fix to include in a release as soon as we can.

    Thanks!

@bobimg, I just open the Developer tools in Chrome and under Resources you can see navigate to your cookies. I just press delete key on the ones with X-Frame-Events_*. It will continue the process like nothing happened.

    @adrianfx
Terrific suggestion! Thank you. Will try!

@adrianfx – Thanks for sharing this!!

I’m getting this bulk edit error as well.

AdrianFx’s solution worked for me, but a fix has to be done. I bought the premium version of the plugin.
