Image map hotspot duplications being created at bottom of image

I have an image of US Map with each state set to link to a different site. Underneath the image, duplicate rectangular shaped hotspots keep being created. At first I created the image map in Dreamweaver then copied and pasted the code into the WordPress Editor, that’s when I first saw the problem. Then I heard DW had problems with WordPress when it came to using image maps. So I used MapSpinner and even it’s code it generated caused the problem. Then I just used one hotspot for the entire code and it showed 1 duplicate hotspot at the bottom. So I assume the it has something to do with the area tags. I just don’t know what’s going on though…
