WordPress Dashboard Features Not Responding

  • Hi,
    I’m having some trouble with my website. It all started yesterday as I was trying to add photos to a blog post. I got an HTTP ERROR message. The error has persisted and I’ve tried different browsers, media files etc. I also noticed today that my site is having trouble updating to WordPress 4.4.1 (won’t update automatically). I am also unable to delete plugins (though I can activate and deactivate them). So basically, many of the links on my site and dashboard are not responding. I’m beginning to think that all these errors are connected, though I don’t even know where to begin. Any pointers?

  • If you can’t delete themes/plugins then you have a permissions issue on the web/file server. That would defiantly effect uploading photos too, as well as any updates.

    You need to check the file permission for you hosting, WordPress need write permission to pretty much the entire folder which means at least 664 depending on how your server set up.

    I checked my file permissions and everything is set to at least 764 or 755. The issue is still persisting and I’m not sure what else to do.
