• The problem is that when I create a post, it always goes under the main domain URL:
domain.com/post1. I feel this is a very bad website structure, even if I have post categories checked.

I know that wordpress supports parent pages, but I cannot add posts to those parent attributes, only pages. Which means I need to create pages to have:

    domain.com/category1/XYZ
    domain.com/category2/CVB

which would be fine, if pages had a date and a category displayed along with comments section. I’m not sure if it’s my theme or wordpress in general, but when I create pages, visitors cannot see the date, category, author and cannot comment.

This is the main reason I need posts, instead of pages. However, I really don’t like the fact that posts cannot be added to a specific subdirectory. Is there any way to fix this?

  • Posts don’t have parents in the same way that Pages do. Instead, they can be assigned to a category and that category can be included in the URL. So you could have /category/post1/ and category/post2/. Is that good? If so, you need to edit your permalinks to include the category name in the URL.

Note that doing the above will change all of the post URLs on your site.

This is actually a really good solution and it doesn’t mess up page structure when I have parent pages.

    Thank you very much!
